Imagsa’s ANPR cameras integrate an ultra-fast image sensor at 250 frames per second. In order to autonomously detect license plates, all these large amount of images should be analysed. Imagsa implements this analysis in a very efficient manner, by using a FPGA-based parallel computing processor.

Atalaya ANPR cameras integrate FPGA devices, which are programmed with custom parallel computing image algorithms to perform specific tasks, such as pattern recognition or image segmentation among others.

To give an idea of the computing power of FPGA processors: in order to perform the same type of image analysis with conventional CPUs, it might approximately be required three INTEL III 2GHz CPU. FPGA processors are more efficient in terms of power consumption, size, performance and cost.
